Running for Wisdom

Nibwaakaawin has such dedicated volunteers! We also have a new intern from the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work, Brittany Sandefur. Brittany and her husband, Conner, along with a couple of their friends are running the Detroit Free Press Half Marathon in Detroit on Sunday October 17th. Brittany and Conner are running to support Nibwaakaawin’s programs and have raised over $300 so far.

Support them! If you appreciate the work that you do and want to see more of it — and if you want to help Brittany and Conner out as they prepare for this test of their endurance — donate! Any amount of money you can spare is helpful. In honor of her 25th birthday, which coincidentally is the same day as the race, Brittany is asking for $25 contributions – but any amount is appreciated!

You can follow Brittany and Conner’s training at their blog:

The blog also includes links to donation through Paypal and Facebook. Checks can be mailed to 311 W Davis Ave. Ann Arbor, MI 48103. You can also email to arrange a way to donate with cash.

And if you want to go that extra mile – or an extra 3.1, 6.2, 13.1, or 26.2 miles – you can run the race in support of Nibwaakaawin too! Just two weeks left!

Here’s a photo of Conner working security at the 2009 All Nations Skate Jam:

And here’s Brittany working in our office (she spends a lot of time on the floor near that filing cabinet):

They also just got married this past July, so heck, help this cute couple stay healthy, celebrate Brittany’s birthday, and support our skaters!!
