Skateboard Nation

We hope you’re getting as pumped for the 6th Annual All Nations Skate Jam as we are! It’s coming up in less than 23 days.

Last year, at the 5th Annual All Nations Skate Jam, the Smithsonian Institution was on-site to film pieces of their upcoming documentary Skateboard Nation. Airing first on May 5th at 9:00pm on the Smithsonian Chanel, this rock-umentary is described as a “high-flying, adrenaline-fueled adventure. Explore the underground movement that’s helping Native American youth throughout the U.S. soar above life’s challenges, one half-pipe at a time. Skateboarding is increasingly popular on Indian reservations, cultivating athletes, artists, entrepreneurs and mentors. From the streets of Albuquerque to New York City, from Washington, D.C. to Pine Ridge, SD, the sport is fueling a new form of self-expression and pride.”

The filmmakers visited us in Adrian, Michigan as well as other groundbreaking leaders in the Native skateboardning movement. To get us psyched for the upcoming debut of the film, they’ve put together some clips featuring some of our favorite skaters – Bryant Chapo and the West Side Boys. Check em out!
